What's your favourite car colour?

Postby RCZ1 » Sat Dec 03, 2011 5:11 pm

Just got to thinking about car colours today, whilst washing the car, as you do. Had a few different coloured cars, some of them not to everyone's taste - but then I do like to be different :eusa-whistle: My favourite colour on a car is red, followed by white. Having said that it does depend on the car - some colours suit certain cars better.

This is in general NOT specifically the RCZ.

most blacks are not black :eusa-think: but made up of a few colours being of a metallic nature.i have only ever seen and detailed one flat black painted car it was a fiat panda 100p 8-) 8-) just pure flat black paint and what finish it had 8-) 8-) it most ways i preffered it over metallic metallic blacks.

least fav colour for a car any shade of

My Mini Cooper was a flat black - it was dull as anything. It was before I'd discovered detailing too, which I suppose didn't help. I always said I would never have a black car but was seduced in the showroom by their lights shining down onto it. In reality ........ :eusa-think: I wouldn't have another.

Metallic blacks are much better. To get the flake really popping is fantastic. I detail 3 black cars for family and friends - all metallics. Black is probably the most rewarding colour when detailed as they do look stunning but unfortunately it's very short lived. Having said that Wolf's Body Wrap does seem to keep black's cleaner - it's claimed to have self cleaning properties and it's water sheeting is unbelievable - which all adds up to keeping cleaner for longer. It also adds an unbelievable shine which seems to somehow help to "disguise'" the dirt. Don't ask me how!

can't really say it truly depends on the car.

if its a german car a plain colour (preferably dark)

french or italian bright colours

American and japanese cars anything most the time

korean dull colours

You may well have something there as Tangerine Tango is the colour predicted for 2012.

Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango has been chosen by Pantone to provide us all with an energy boost as we enter 2012. Commenting on the selection Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Colour Institute said in a press statement:

"Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy."

Why was you reading statements made by Leatrice Eiseman in the first place?

I'm curious, What has happened to the love for silver coloured cars? They replaced White a number of years ago as the most common coloured car and now White is making a come back. I don't have any statistics but I reckon most cars from 10plate on are white now again. Is it the consumer or the manufacturer deciding this?

I think it's the consumer. But I think you will find that White seems to go in cycles. It last had a renaissance 20 ish years ago, just about the time I learnt to drive and the first car I bought was White. Not had another until the RCZ when White was back in vogue.

Personally I'm not a fan of silver cars. I've never had one - always feel like they forgot to put the colour on.
