So installed the sub yesterday, I'll write up more on the installation in the threads we have been spamming recently.
I need to wait for the sub to break in before really know the difference, but it's made a decent difference to the sound...
Unfortunately it's started to cause the rear plastic interior trim panels to vibrate so I'll need to pull those off and figure out a way to stop it...
I still need to tidy up some of the wiring, so excuse the messy photos.
Some points...
The small sub still allows for the floor to be fully lifted up to access the spare tire well.
The earth for the sub is on the left hand side of the boot.
You don't need a windscreen removal tool, just wiggle the wiper arm around until it becomes loose.
I cut the end off the gromet that goes through the firewall and then used a large Phillips head screwdriver to punch the hole in the sound deadening and wiggled it around to make it a bit larger for the cable to come through. So the gromet becomes the protection for the wire. I went around the gromet and wire with windscreen sealant for water protection.
I used the green remote wire on the jbl amp input wiring for the remote wire and only had 1 small pop from the sub.
I used the high level inputs from the jbl amp and spliced those and ran the cable for the 2 rear woofers into the high level inputs on the sub amp.
I ran the power cable for the amp in between the black fuse box and the white plastic housing.
I ran it down the side of the car next to the factory loom. To get it under the rear interior trim I just slid it along the carpet and the trim and pushed it under the plastic and wiggled the cable until it was where I wanted so I didn't need to remove the panel.
I mounted the remote for the amp gain / volume in the center console and fed the wire through through slot next to the USB input.
The sub is Velcro'd into place with 4x 50mm x 50mm pieces and that's more than enough to hold it, but movable. If required.
Hmmm what else...
Ohhh don't forget to fully push the wiper motor plug in or you will have a minor oh **** what is broken, why arnt the wipers working moment...
