So, took out the old sensor which had long probes (about 40mm) and fitted the new one which has small probes (about 10mm). All good for a couple of days and then the bloody warning flashes up again on my way into work this morning!

Think I'm going back to a Z4 !!

:wtf: :eusa-think:

Does yours use coolant?

I have had the need to top it up occasionally. Doesn't drop under the main, but definitely losing a little bit somewhere..

Is the sensor the one on the expansion tank?
And is coolant above the sensor when it comes up with warning?
Can't remember which variant you have.

200 GT, as per my profile!

Never looked at the level when the car is warm, assume the level goes up not down once up to running temp!

I have topped mine up, very slightly on occasion, but I've never had any warnings (as yet :eusa-shhh: ).

It could be that with the pressures it's running the let's the excess out then cools down enough and is taken back in the engine leaving not enough to cover the sensor and the warnings comes on.
Then after it cools there is enough to cover sensor.

Check when warning is on with engine running.

Bloody sensor!!!!

Warning goes off every time the car is started from cold. Bleeps until the engine has warmed up, then behaves itself. Level is at max when cold so I'm now totally confused.

Searched the forum but can't see any posts with this problem.

I'm digging this up :P
Mine has just started saying coolant level low. Even though its not.
I guess it needs a new level sensor.
Do I make a warranty claim, wait while Peugeot prat about.
Or just buy one and do it myself??

I've ordered a new sensor to fit myself.
The thought of my local Peugeot dealer fannying around for days on end trying to find the fault was too much.

After last time my 508 was there for 3 days I'd rather not take the risk over something so simple to change.

Hi, sorry to resurrect this, I have the same issue myself on an RCZ I've just bought.

Where did you order this sensor from? There seem to be a lot around the £30 mark on Ebay? Then the cheap chinese stuff which I don't want to risk

Or is it worth trying the salvage yards? Seem to be loads of part numbers for this part!

Thanks

Lee

Hi Lee and welcome to the forum :greetings-wavingblue:

Most new forum members introduce themselves and its nice to see some photos of your new RCZ, we’re a friendly bunch on here and there are loads of opportunities to go on runs out and attend meets and shows with likeminded owners that’s if your interested in that kind of thing

Hi

I've not managed to get any pics yet, it's chucking it down here and the car is in transition (ie on the drive mainly), it's for the missus to replace her terminally ill MX5, but she's running that till the RCZ (or Old BatMobile, as I'm referring to it) has had a service!

I'll get some photos when/if it stops raining!

Lee
