Losing the shine of owning the RCZ...

Postby binkybmf » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:06 pm

Morning all

Firstly, there isn't anything wrong with the car that would be Peugeot's fault, but here is a list of the problems I have with the RCZ..

    1. Parking Dent on the Passenger door
    2. Bump on the rear Bumper where someone has run into me. Didn't mark or crack the paint just left a bump that can only be felt.
    3. Stone Chip on the windscreen - Free to fix but still hassle..
    4. Massive Stone Chip on the passenger rear arch, down the galvanised metal, thanks to stones falling from a lorry on the A1.
    5. Many many little stone chips on the lower front bumper..

I know I cant expect to keep the car immaculate considering the number of miles I do, however these little niggles have taken the shine off owning a new car...

Am I the only one experiencing such things?

Sorry to hear this binkybmf. Don't let these things put you off. I know its hassle but if you get these problems sorted out, I'm sure you will be much happier. You've got to put some time and effort into looking after your car and it will repay you.

I've suffered similar problems in the last couple of months, scraped new wing mirrors and curbed an alloy. I've had my alloy repaired and its as good as new again. I'm in the process of sorting out the scrapes myself on the wing mirrors so before too long Pearl will be looking her gorgeous best once again.

C'mon cheer up

sorry to hear that binkybmf. I have been having the same issues for the past year but as soon as I got my car back with all the repairs finally completed and it all came rushing back the love and pride of owning my RCZ.

with me I have had the following

1. Stone dented right rear arch (lorry caused that one) that was in 2 weeks of ownership

2. Chipped the paint on the driver door (my fault)

3. Faulty Exhaust system (Dealer did not put the exhaust pipe on right) 1st day of ownership I discovered that

4. Damaged rear bumper (friends sister reversed into the back of the car)

5. bent exhaust system (aftermath of my friends sister incident)

Yep

Easy way to solve all the problems you list - keep it in the garage, sit in it once a week making "brum brum" noises.
I find that this keeps the car exactly the same as the day I drove it from the Dealer into my garage.

Otherwise, try a spin into the Welsh Valleys and enjoy driving round the curves, bends and straights.
You'll not notice any marks on your vehicle - you'll be too busy enjoying the car :auto-car:

Enjoy - whichever of the above options you may choose

The RCZ isn't an ornament destined to stay locked up and looked at. If it is was then you should have bought yourself a clasic car and stick in in a heated garage!
It's a car, it's meant to be driven and enjoyed ... and as such will inevitably be susseptible to some battle scars. Doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy it any less......

I do understand and agree, when its chips i am not too bothered about them because thats just being driven but when its damage like someone reversing into it etc I will fix it as soon as possible.

I have been in your mind set and as others say and some not too sympathetically ;) its not nice and it will take money to get it back to that drive out the showroom day, it can be done but as i say at a cost.Motorway driving cause's most superfiscial damage to a car or B roads at speed, keep it as it is till the spring then tackle one niggle at time you will get there i did with my last it had the same mishap's as your rcz :( so chin up

Cheers All

I think what has made matters worse is that its really my first ever new, new car! Whereas i have always bought 3 - 4 year old cars in the past and never really cared for them as much as the RCZ.

I'll get the imperfections fettled and look forward to cleaning and polishing it at the weekend.

I am glad its not only just me that has a few battle scars on way, but donnaj1dlh is right, if I want a showroom car then thats where I should keep it... in the showroom! :D

Cheers guys and galls, you have cheered me right up and now look forward to the upkeep of the RCZ rather than just sitting in the gloom when I first posted.

My Z is now almost 2 years old, and I can honestly say that it never drew a crowd of admirers during the time its been in my charge. The amount of comments I have received ref the car , I can count on 1 hand. It is still mint with only 3400 miles on the clock.
I still think it is a nice looking car, but for me the glitter is deminishing now, and I have started looking at other marques with the possibility of a change later in the year.
Sad , but that life innit?

Mal. Have you really only done 3400 miles in nearly 2years or have you missed a nought of that figure ? I hope that my love of the car is sustained as I have spent a fortune in depreciation in the past few years and really would like to see the benefit of this car.
RCZ is the only car to make the Audi TT appear dated, and is officially the sexiest car on the road.

I was out yesterday registering unemployed again  and were i parked was new a 11 plate white TT s-line quattro with charcoal alloys it looked 8-) 8-) it was so low to the ground compared to the rcz which was only 2 cars away :( so i too look at other cars and its only interrupted employment that stops me changing the rcz

hmmm... I've owned 3 hyundai coupe to date.. 1st gen,2nd gen and the tuscani, the hyundai has gone from strength to strenght, but alas, the veloster doesn't quite evoke the same emotion as the rcz.. to me its a hatch.. i'm quite a purist when it comes to sports cars.. its gotta be 2 or 3 door.. a coupe/cabrio silhoutte..and totally impractical hahaha... but guess what i still have the 2nd gen with me, i think its got all the right curves, much like how i like the RCZ..sexy!
